| How do I apply for the housing programs? |
| You can apply Monday 8:30 to 3:30 and Tuesday 10:00 to 3:30 at the Main office located at 80 Jefferson Avenue, Sharon, PA. Applications for Carol Gurrera Village are taken at the Site located off Lamor Road and Mercer. Applications for Heritage Square are taken at the site located off West Butler Street in Mercer on Wednesday 8:30 to noon. You can also contact us over the phone if you want an application mailed to you. |
| Can I have a pet (for example, a dog or cat)? |
| In conventional housing: Yes; there is a 150.00 non-refundable fee for a dog and $100.00 non-refundable fee for a cat. Also, there is a 200.00 security deposit and the pet must have all necessary shots, be spayed or neutered, and MCHA needs a picture of the animal.
Conventional Housing Units: Sharpsville Gardens, Malleable Heights, Mesabi Street, Herbert Garster Homes, Frank Fay Terrace, George J. Vermeire Manor, Pine Hollow Village, McDowell Manor, Valley View Homes North Sharon and Silver Street.
Section 8 New Construction: Yes; Lavigne Manor there is a 200.00 security deposit that can be made in payments. The animal must have all its shots, be spayed or neutered, and we need a picture of the animal.

| Do you provide emergency housing? |
| No. We do offer a preference for working and full time students. Applications are logged by date and time and we call as vacant units are available based on the date and time of application. |
| How much do I need to move in and is there a security deposit? |
| The rent is based on 30% of your gross household income minus any allowable deductions. Yes everyone pays a security deposit based on there income. |
| Who is responsible for utilities? |
| At our family sites, the resident is responsible for the gas, water and electric and they must be under the leaseholders name. |
| How long is the lease? |
| One full year. After the first initial year you are on a month-to-month basis and you must give a 30-day notice to move. |
| What documents must I bring with me to apply for public housing? |
| Social Security cards and birth certificates for everyone in the household and proof of income for all applicants over the age of 18. |
| What are the income eligibility requirements for admission? |
| Depending on which program and how many people are in your household. Income guideline is based on 30% of the median, which in our state is 61,100. |
